a loser's game

and i'll lose one more to love
in a competition that lives
just outside my reach
and as you stride toward him
you'll forget to turn back and wave
to me
and once more all that will
remain is the dust that once
spelled out your name
in a competition that lives
just outside my reach

Found your blog through a supurflous search. It's enchanting.
This poem has a personal and bitter edge. Well written.
Answer me this: What kind of love competition exists in your life? And who is this person that you lost to?

thank you for your comments :)
what kind of love competition exists in my life? currently not the same one, that one of course being one that lay just outside my reach.
and who is the person i lost to? someone i didn't know but now do.
how about a question for you: why chose to be anonymous?
i hope you continue to find my blog enchanting :)

To be anonymous is to be non commital. I commit not, so I remain forever yours, anonymous.
Your reply sounds to me like you now are riddled with yet another competition of love. What kind of competitor are you?
To now know your past competitor is interesting. Considering you lost... did your opponent even know she was competing?
